The State of the Art on Moroccan Emigration to Europe
This literature review, prepared by Lalla Amina Drhimeur, is a state of the art on Moroccan emigration to Europe. It explores the history of Moroccan emigration to Europe with a focus on Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, which are the countries studied in the scope of the “PRIME Youth” project. This review also seeks to understand the recruitment processes deployed by receiving countries, as well as the regulations, and integration experiences that took place between the early 20th century and the 1960s. In doing so, it illustrates that Moroccan emigration is diverse and flexible in the way it adjusts to changing immigration policies, changes in the job market in the host countries but also to political, economic and social changes in Morocco.
